Floyd will be featured in an AWP panel entitled "Crossing Genres, Exploring Disability: A Tribute to Floyd Skloot" on March 30, 2019 at noon in Portland, OR at the Oregon Convention Center. Panelists include John Domini, Michael Steinberg, TJ Jarrett, and his daughter, Rebecca Skloot.
AWP Panel description: "Few writers can match the career of Floyd Skloot. The longtime Oregonian has published twenty books, with awards in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Yet, he’s done this with virus-induced brain damage. He had to work outside academics, and disability became central to his vision and contribution. In 2010, Poets & Writers listed him among the '50 most inspiring authors in the world.' This tribute considers his work in all genres, and includes his daughter Rebecca, a successful author herself."
Floyd welcomes invitations for readings at colleges, universities, and other venues. He would also be glad to join your class or reading group in a discussion of his work. Depending on where you're located, it may not be possible for him to be present in person, but in that case there are other options. Make an appointment and ask the author himself questions about his work. You can do this live via Skype, speakerphone or submit questions in advance by e-mail. Click on "CONTACT" to get in touch.
Thank you for your interest.
